Biography

Monale is currently the Director General of New Development Bank (NDB), African Regional Office since April 2008. The NDB is a multilateral development bank established by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa with the objective of financing infrastructure and sustainable development projects in BRICS and other emerging economies and developing countries, complementing the efforts of multilateral and regional financial institutions toward global growth and development

Prior to joining NDB Monale spent over 7 years at the National Treasury of South Africa. During that period, he held the position of the Head of Economic Policy (DDG) and also Acting Head of International and Regional Policy (DDG). He joined the National Treasury as the Chief Director for Liability Management within Assets and Liabilities Management division. Prior to joining the National Treasury, Monale worked as a Chief Economist for Thebe Investment Corporation after working for ABSA Capital as a Senior Macro strategist.
