Biography

Rafael Janequine joined S&P Global Ratings in October 2012 and he was part of the Financial Institutions practice as a credit analyst for approximately eight years, covering banks, insurers and asset managers. He used to cover many countries in the region including Brazil, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, and some countries in the Caribbean. Rafael was also the primary analyst for a few financial systems’ BICRA analysis such as Bolivia and Trinidad and Tobago.

Rafael then joined the Sustainable Finance team in 2021. He has been leading a team of seven analysts in Latin America and also has been involved in sustainability-related analysis (particularly SPOs), commentaries, market education and event presentation for different sectors and countries in the region.

Rafael graduated from the University of São Paulo in 2014 with a Bachelor of Economics, including an exchange program in Umeå University (Sweden). He is also graduated in Kumon (a Japanese method for mathematics and developing logical thinking). Moreover, he became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and he is now applying for the CFA’s Certificate in ESG Investing.

Finally, Rafael is also a mentor at Projeto Gauss that offers scholarships and mentoring for Brazilian students who believe in education as a tool for transformation – but, for many social reasons, they were prevented from accessing it.
