Biography

Ahmed has over 18 years of corporate, investment banking and asset management experience across EMEA and Asia Pacific. He has originated and executed high-profile strategic transactions encompassing strategic reviews, M&As, LBOs, distressed asset sales, re-organisations, corporate restructurings, balance sheet advisory, hybrid capital, syndicated and structured finance with a combined deal value in excess of US$ 150bn.

He joined Mizuho Bank in August 2015 as Head of FIG & SWF for the Middle East & North African region. He is responsible for the origination of corporate, investment banking and asset management business across FIs, Sovereigns, SWFs , SSA and Public Sector entities. He is also responsible for the management of Mizuho's regional strategic client relationships and delivery of Mizuho's Financing vertical to the regional FIG & SWF client base.


Prior to Mizuho, Ahmed was a Director at the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was responsible for the delivery of investment banking, global markets and structured financial solutions to EMEA FIG & SWF client base. During his time at RBS, he was involved in advising EMEA FIG & SSA client base in the divestment of non-core & distressed assets (equity, debt, mezz and derivatives) across diverse sectors incl. real estate, shipping, aviation, infrastructure and speciality finance. Ahmed was also involved in the divestment of RBS Group Non-Core operations and investment portfolios in the CEEMEA region.

Ahmed holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
