Biography

Veenay has over 20 years’ experience in Financial Institutions regulations, with specific expertise in capital structuring across sectors requiring accounting, corporate finance, legal, rating agency, regulatory capital and tax matters. He is familiar with Basel regulatory developments for banks globally and also the equivalent European CRD implementations. He also has significant capital structuring experience in the insurance sector, being familiar with Solvency I and II.

Veenay joined SMBC in Aug 2021 to head up the Capital Structuring & Solutions team as well as the UK & Northern Europe DCM team. Prior to joining SMBC, Veenay ran the Capital Solutions teams at NatWest (2015-2021) and JPMorgan (2006 – 2014).

Veenay is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a First Class (Honours) Degree in Accounting and Management Science from the University of Kent at Canterbury.
