Biography

Ms. Mmakgoshi Lekhethe is the Interim Deputy Director-General responsible for Tax and Financial Sector Policy at the National Treasury, South Africa. She also manages South Africa’s participation in international forums such as the G20, the OECD and the Financial Stability Board on global tax and financial sector policy coordination.

Mmakgoshi has over 20 years of experience in global financial markets, development finance, regional and economic policy, and corporate governance. She has, on behalf of the National Treasury, led teams in successfully closing multi-billion-dollar transactions and development partnership agreements. She served on the Boards of the African Development Bank as Executive Director, the New Development Bank as Alt. Executive Director, and the World Bank Group as Senior Advisor.

Ms. Lekhethe holds an MSc in Economics from the University of London’s SOAS.
